Murals Inside Seredipity
Making Thief River Falls downtown—and your hometown—a little brighter through public art.
Emerald Forest
It all begins with an idea. This is Emerald Forest in process. I am working toward a path leading through a heavy jungle forest with a soft sun glow in the background. The painting began as an intuitive exercise with eyes closed. This section of the wall was begun with a local artist friend of mine Peggy Brandon who I was introducing to the process of painting blind. The next layer was a layer of color washed over. Next I outlined general shapes for the trees. All of this was done without a reference photo. The only thing I had in mind was to paint a giant tree spreading out across the walls from the corner. Then one day after applying the color wash, I came across a picture of a lush, emerald green forest that caught my attention so I brought the picture in to Serendipity to see how it would fit with what was taking shape on the wall. The fit was perfect! I am often asked what I use for inspiration and honestly most times my best painting inspiration comes after the process has already begun!
Wall of Inspiration
These pictures are from the joining wall. Originally I was going to paint in images of animals, but have decided to leave it as is and call it Wall of Inspiration. This came when someone commented about all the eyes and figures he saw coming alive in the space! I invite you to come in and let this wall speak to you in its own way.
Gail’s Rainbow Elephant

Kim’s Playful Elephant
This cute, playful elephant was painted by an artist friend of mine who I met during my Creatively Fit Coaches training, Kim Sales of Lantern Light Studios. She lives in Minneapolis and came up to paint during the opening of Serendipity Art Hub.
